The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Logo

The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) was developed by the Department of Defense to address cybersecurity deficiencies in the defense industrial base.

The CMMC rolls various requirements into one unified standard.

There are 5 certification levels contractors and subs will have to meet. The levels are cumulative, meaning the levels are built on top of each other the higher up you progress up the levels.

The model consists of 17 domains, or control families.

These requirements must be met to 100% conformity in order to pass a CMMC certification.

The two data types the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification focuses on are Federal Contract Information, or FCI and Controlled Unclassified Information, or CUI.
