Fernando is the Managing Principal and Chief Information Security Officer of Cybersec Investments, bringing nearly two decades of DoD cybersecurity expertise from organizations including L3Harris Technologies and Raytheon. He was a key contributor to the CMMC Accreditation Body's Standards Management Industry Working Group, donating over 17,000 volunteer hours to develop the assessment criteria and scoping guidance that define CMMC assessments today. Fernando is the author of CMMC Simplified, a widely-used guide for defense contractors navigating compliance, and is recognized on the Cyber AB marketplace as a Lead CMMC Certified Assessor (LCCA).

Nicole Machado

Nicole serves as Chief Financial Officer of Cybersec Investments, overseeing financial operations, budgeting, and the business systems that keep the firm running at peak efficiency. She is the primary point of contact for client relationships, ensuring every defense contractor we work with receives clear communication, responsive support, and a seamless experience from initial discovery call through certification. As a Certified CMMC Professional (CCP), Nicole brings firsthand understanding of the compliance landscape to every client engagement — translating complex regulatory requirements into straightforward action plans. Her dual role bridging finance and client success gives Cybersec Investments the operational foundation to scale its assessment practice without sacrificing the personal service our clients depend on.

Stacy brings unparalleled insight into the CMMC program as a former Principal Director at the DoD Office of the CISO, where she was a key architect in developing the CMMC framework. Her firsthand experience shaping the standards that govern CMMC assessments today provides Cybersec Investments and its clients with an unmatched level of policy expertise and regulatory clarity.

Jace Wheeler

Director of Compliance

M.S. Cybersecurity U.S. Navy Retired

As Director of Compliance, Jace leads quality assurance across all assessments, ensuring strict adherence to NIST SP 800-171A objectives, accurate eMASS submissions, and internal ISO and CMMC compliance standards. With over 20 years of military experience and a defense-first mindset, he has supported programs like DISA's Comply to Connect and DoD Zero Trust. As a former small business owner, he understands the financial burden of compliance firsthand and the time and energy required to implement compliance frameworks successfully. He has led and assessed multiple CMMC assessments and one of the largest DoD Prime Contractors in the country. He holds a Master's degree in Cybersecurity with certifications in CMMC and CISSP, and brings his personal mantra — Maximum Effort — to everything he does.

Clay Mathews

Director of Operations

U.S. Air Force Retired

Clay brings 27 years of prior-enlisted and commissioned Air Force service to his role as Director of Operations at Cybersec Investments. A Flight Navigator and Combat Systems Officer (CSO) on the AC-130U/J, he served as Director of Operations of the 4th Special Operations Squadron before retiring. His military career included selection as an inductee of the DoD Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP), service as an AFWERX Fellowship SBIR/STTR Program proposal evaluator, and appointment as a Presidential Advance Agent for Air Force One. At Cybersec Investments, Clay oversees assessment team assignments, scheduling, and resource planning — ensuring every client engagement is staffed, sequenced, and executed with the precision the mission demands.

Lucas leads business development and client acquisition at Cybersec Investments, connecting defense contractors with the assessment services they need to achieve and maintain CMMC certification. His focus is building relationships that help organizations navigate the path to compliance with confidence. Known for his authenticity, clarity, and commitment to doing right by the customers, Lucas has built and led teams across multiple industries. His work centers on empowering clients, elevating partners, and fostering sales cultures rooted in trust and accountability. Beyond the office, Lucas is a devoted husband, father of three, and enthusiastic Disney fan who values creating meaningful experiences with his family.
